County Libraries Food Drive For Fines

County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries are once again celebrating National Library Week by helping to end hunger in the community. Food for Fines Week takes place April 10 – 15 at all county library branches, in partnership with the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.
One donation of non-perishable food will be worth $1 of overdue fines. There is no limit to how many overdue fines may be covered by food donations.
Just a reminder, the homeless like the same foods as the rest of us, so half labeled mystery cans aren’t on the menu.
Accepted items for the food drive are canned or dry soup, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned tuna/meats, peanut butter, dried pasta, rice, beans and boxed cereal.
Fees other than fines, such as those for lost or damaged items, are not included in the program.
