Young musicians from 12 to 20 who want to learn about traditional jazz and improvisation can apply for a scholarship to the Teagarden Jazz Camp, sponsored by Pismo Beach’s Basin Street Regulars. The camp in the Sierras runs from July 23-29 and July 31 to Aug 6. The deadline to apply is sometime in April. Available openings for popular instruments fill up fast. The Teagarden Jazz Camp is at Pollock Pines and is considered one of the best in the nation. The Camp expanded its two, week-long sessions to accommodate an overflow of applicants.
