Co-ed Grabbed Outside Cal Poly

San Luis Obispo Police are looking for a man who grabbed the buttocks of a Cal Poly co-ed and then escaped off into the night.
According to SLOPD Sgt. Chad Pfarr at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 a woman was walking alone through campus near the health center when the attack occurred.
“As she approached the stairs leading from the coffee shop and the 1400 block of Foothill onto campus,” Sgt. Pfarr said in a news release, “she felt someone grab her by the buttocks.”
The woman turned to find a Hispanic man, about 5-feet 6-inches tall, thin with a “stalky” build, and wearing a heavy black jacket, pants and a tan colored beanie.
The scoundrel took off and was last seen running down the 1300 block of Foothill Blvd., said Sgt. Pfarr.
The victim was not injured in the incident and called police immediately but officers couldn’t find him. Sgt. Pfarr said this is the third incident in the same general area — on the fringes of the Cal Poly Campus — over the past two months.
Though seemingly sexual in nature, this particular incident doesn’t fit the definition. “Sexual battery in California is defined under 243.4(a) PC,” Sgt. Pfarr said. “Restraint is one of the elements of that section. There was no restraint, so it’s a straight battery.”
This guy isn’t believed to be the same one who several years ago, attacked several female students off campus, attempting to drag them into bushes or a car. “I do not believe they are associated with the sexual assaults from a couple years back,” Sgt. Pfarr said.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen the man running down Foothill Boulevard to call them at 781-7312 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
