The Creamery and South Town 18, located at 564 Higuera St., have been approved for remodel and new construction. Located at the southwest edge of Downtown, the Creamery is a “Master List Historic Property,” and home to Spike’s Pub, a local watering hole.
Developers received approval in July 2016 to update the property and replace the existing parking lot behind Spike’s with a new pedestrian plaza. The project includes new paint, walkways, facades, an expansion of Spike’s and new commercial and restaurant spaces.
A separate project, South Town 18, will be constructed adjacent to The Creamery near San Luis Creek. In January, the SLO City Council approved a mixed-use project that includes 18 residential units, a small commercial space and parking.
The units range in size from studio apartments to 1- and 2-bedroom units. The project was designed to provide pedestrian connectivity with The Creamery.
