Trifecta- Who’s the hottest sports figure on the planet right now?  Chicago Cubs freakish starting pitcher Jake Arrieta who sports a 9-0 record with a 1.72 era?  Rookie racecar driver Alexander Rossi who came out of nowhere to capture the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500?  Pro tennis player Novak Djokovic, whom nobody can seem to beat as of late?  No, no and no.

At the conclusion of her latest victory a few of her competitors doused her with water and she still was still sizzling.  Ariya Jutanugarn literally smoked the field in Ann Arbor, Michigan and ran away with the Volvik Championship for her third consecutive Ladies Professional Golf Association victory in a row.  Boom, boom, boom!

What a feat.  Three weeks ago Jutanugarn captured her first-ever stateside title and followed it up with a victory the following week.  Two in a row was cool.  But to hang a third plaque on the wall after three weeks of competition is really rare.  I distinctly remember a couple of years ago watching a women›s golf tournament on the telly being broadcast from foreign soil. This young 18-year-old held a two or three shot lead going into the final hole. The player was Ariya and the poor girl just made a disaster out of #18 and coughed up certain victory.  I think I may have cried with her at the conclusion.

Fast-forward to now and she sits on top of the golfing world…make that the sports world!  Jutanugarn is the first professional woman from Thailand to win on the LPGA.  Ariya shall step back and take a breath this week and resume play the following week.  Tune in if you are able as it shall be quite interesting to see if she can best the field for #4 in a row.

MLB Hot- Yup, the Chicago Cubs were touted as World Series contenders going into this season and they are not disappointing.  The franchise that has not won anything in forever is currently leading the major leagues with a 34-14 record as about one-third of the season has been completed.  Funny how one sees those Cubby hats starting to pop up in the general population nowadays.  Fickle fans are jumping on board and quite honestly it’s refreshing to see our coastline dotted with caps other than the Giants and Dodgers.  Can the Cubs stand the test of time?

MLB Not- It is just downright perplexing as to how the Houston Astros can be cellar-dwellers to date after showing such promise last year.  They basically are sporting the same starting pitching staff and batting lineup as last year when they made the playoffs.  At press time the ‘Stros were lanquishing in last place in the abysmal American League West division.  Houston was touted to run away with their division by most prognosticators prior to 2016’s first pitch.  Manager A. J. Hinch has got to be looking over his shoulder as you would think management isn’t taking kindly to the current results.  Seen any Astro hats around lately?

Quick Hits- NHL finals begin tonight and it feels as if the Pittsburgh Penguins have just a smidge more talent than the San Jose Sharks as they begin battle for the Stanley Cup.  Press deadline has me handcuffed as the Warriors and Thunder shall also clash tonight in a classic game seven to see who shall face LeBron James and mates in the NBA finals.  Good lord, keep your fingers crossed that #108-ranked American Shelby Rogers can continue her amazing run at the French Open tennis championships!  Jordan Spieth has shown true grit and determination by rebounding from his disastrous collapse at The Masters to putt his way to recent victory at The Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas.  Make today special and tell your children, your spouse, siblings, a friend or all of the above that you love them.  Peace.  Out.
