Surf Rescue Boat on the Move

The Central Coast Maritime Museum got a big helping hand Monday when Mike Myers and crew from Myer’s Drilling donated their time and equipment, a 40-ton crane, to move its Coast Guard Surf Rescue BEST-3Boat to a new site for display. Moving the 30-foot long and 11,000-pound fiberglass vessel, though tricky, went off without a hitch. CCMMA President, Larry Newland, said they hope to arrange to move the tugboat Alma to its new home next to the Coast Guard boat in early June. They also plan to move the rescue submarine, Avalon, to a new display site and to erect a small, temporary museum building. See: www.morrobaymaritime.org for more on the group and their plans.
