A Cayucos man was arrested July 8 in Creston, after Sheriff’s deputies allegedly found suspected cocaine in the vehicle.
According to Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Cipolla, at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8 deputies stopped a vehicle for alleged speeding in the area of Hwy 41 and Cripple Creek Road in Creston.
“The Deputy approached the car,” Cipolla said in a news release, “and noticed a plastic bag filled with what appeared to be cocaine in the center console of the car.”
Cipolla said the driver “admitted it was cocaine” and a police dog was brought in to search the vehicle. A Paso Robles Police car also assisted in the case.
Cipolla said they allegedly found 3 kilos (about 6.5 pounds) of suspected cocaine and deputies arrested Alexander Allan Matarese, 31 of Cayucos for suspicion of transporting a controlled substance for sale and for possessing a controlled substance for sale. He was booked into County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
