Upwards of 50,000 people lined Ocean Avenue for the 2015 Independence Day Parade, sponsored by the Cayucos Lions Club. With the sun breaking out of a gloomy, foggy morning just in time for the parade, some 66 entrants marched down the avenue, a colorful, fanciful, whimsical and delightful spectacle. Lion Jerry Dobyns was Grand Marshal. The parade theme, “Home of the Free — Next to the Sea,” was awarded to Cayucos Elementary 4th grader, Sydney Phillips, who also got to ride in the parade.
