History/Nature Walk July 18

Small Wilderness Area Preservation’s next Saturday Nature Walk will have archaeologist, Barry Price, leading a time traveling trek into the pre-Spanish past of Central Coast inhabitants, the Chumash and their ancestors. The walk is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18 in the El Moro Elfin Forest of Los Osos. Meet at the end of 15th Street off Santa Ysabel Avenue (16th Street for wheelchair access). Wear comfortable shoes, long sleeves and pants to avoid poison oak. Don’t block driveways or mailboxes when you park and leave pets at home. Walking along the boardwalk, Price will tell the fascinating story of the ancient peoples who camped in the Elfin Forest 1,000 years or more ago, using artifacts that show the industry and culture of the Chumash and other indigenous tribes on the Central Coast. One to 1-1/2 hours; call 528-0392 for more information.
