SLO Resident, John Oliveira Celebrates 90th Birthday at The Octagon Barn

John Oliveira, who grew up milking cows at the Octagon Barn returned to the site of his old family business to celebrate 90 years of life.
Oliveira’s sisters, friends and other family members were present and invited the community to attend as a fundraiser for the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, which is restoring the barn and developing the site into a community education center. The event was not generally open to the public however.
The Oliveira family said they held the event to honor their father, who grew up milking cows at what was then the Home Barn, “to honor the family’s and barn’s history, as well as a fundraiser to assist the Land Conservancy in completing the project so that the entire community can experience and celebrate the Octagon Barn Center for generations to come.“
The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County is a community-supported local nonprofit land trust working to protect and restore local landscapes for the benefit of people and wildlife.
To make a tax deductible charitable donation to support the Octagon Barn Center project individuals and businesses can make an online donation on The Conservancy’s website at www.LCSLO.org or call Kaila Dettman, Executive Director, at 544-9096 ext 13.
