The folks at Traditional Tattoo San Luis Obispo did their best to bring a little of Tatooine to the Central Coast for “Star Wars Day 2016” on the fourth of May.

Sorry, that’s “May the Fourth” as in, “May the force be with you.”

Star Wars themed tattoos were 35-percent off for the day and 20% off with a Star Wars costume on.

A Princess Leia dressed in her best attire for the ice planet Hoth, was among the first to take them up on 50% off on piercings. While mom waited, the princess got her septum pierced.

The unusual event led to an Ewok (manager Louie Campopiano) doing a tattoo (of the Rebel Alliance logo with the crossed light saber blades representing good and evil the foreground) on a young woman in Stormtrooper headgear and C3PO leggings, while her friends and Han Solo (owner Shad Perlich) took photos.

A live and “working” R2-D2, built by Alec Bialek, a mechanical engineering student from Cal Poly, joined the fun for the afternoon.

Tattoo and Star Wars enthusiasts were invited to join a costume contest for a $100 gift card as well.

While more events, including showings of the now seven films and two animated Star Wars television series were held on the Cal Poly campus, Traditional Tattoo was the only local shop to go “all out” for the unofficial holiday. – Camas Frank
