What does one do when neighbors are gone for Christmas and you’re feeling a little mischievous? As Nancy Ryan explained, Nikki and Alan McCay, who live in the 3900 block of Elm St., in Morro Bay decided their absent neighbors’ homes needed a little Christmas décor, so Alan made and Nikki painted two unique Grinches doing what Grinches tend to do — steal Christmas. “With the permission of Andy, the owner, they created a most incredible ‘Grinch’ out of plywood and stood him on the front yard with a spotlight and have him stealing the lights off the top of the house,” said Nancy.
And they decided City Councilman Noah Smukler’s house needed something too. “Nikki and Alan decided they needed some spirit too,” said Nancy, “so they made another beautiful Grinch who is stealing the Christmas tree and putting it into the green waste bucket. Pretty appropriate for a couple who do landscaping as a business.” And we’d say apropos for a councilman whose focus is always in the eco-friendly realm. “Our neighborhood has truly been enhanced by these wonderful creatures,” Nancy said.
