More Care Packages From Si

PG&E employees joined local resident and ex-Marine, Si Tenenberg, Tuesday, April 19 to put together care packages for combat troops overseas. Tenenberg’s SLO home has been converted into an assembly line to put together the 12,000 care packages, that he’s sent overseas to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tenenberg’s “mission” as he calls it, assembles the packages according to requests from the troops, and contain toiletries, food, snacks, clothing items and magazines along with a letter of thanks and support. Each care box cost between $50 and $60 to produce, but they are priceless in a combat zone. PG&E gave a $2,500 grant for supplies for the boxes and to help cover shipping costs. More information about the care packages program is available online at: www.troopcarepacks.org. ‘We were happy to partner with Si and his organization to provide time and resources to help our troops overseas,’ said Lindsey Miller, a community relations representative based on the Central Coast.
