With some record setting rain over the past few months our hiking trails, meadows, hills and fields are filled with a large array of wildflowers. You can take day trips and view flowers out at the Carrizo Plains, Shell Creek Road or stay right in the City of San Luis Obispo and hike the Johnson Ranch Trail. Although half the loop of the trail is closed due to a mudslide, you can still walk the bottom portion of the trail to and from the Johnson Ranch Trailhead and Madonna Trailhead. The stream is running and along this trail you will find Poppies, Lupines, Yellow Mustard, Field Bindweed, Fiddlenecks, Blue Dicks, Wild Onion, Sticky Monkey Flower, California Buttercup, Vetch, Wild Yellow Violets, Popcorn Flowers, Yuccas and more!
