Summer of Progressive Love Concert

SLO County Progressives wants to celebrate the Summer of Love with a special throwback ‘60s party, “The San Luis Pop Festival,” in Mitchell Park in SLO set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6. Cost is $15 a person and 12-under free. Tickets are available online at: sloprogressives.org/event/san-luis-obispo-county-pop-festival.

Musical line up is Jody Mulgrew, B and The Hive, and Kristen Black playing ‘60s covers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Summer of Love in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

The speaker lineup includes Jonathan Tasini, Kimberly Ellis, and Karen Bernal. Tasini is a strategist, organizer, activist, commentator and writer, focusing on work, labor and the economy. Ellis is the first African-American executive director for Emerge America. And Bernal is the 2-term chairwoman of the Progressive Caucus of the California State Democratic Party, a member of the Party’s Executive Board, member of the Sacramento County Democratic Party, and co-founder of the Wellstone Progressive Democrats of Sacramento County.

The Festival will also feature food trucks, beer and wine. Park in the Marsh Street parking garage and bring low back chairs and/or blankets.
