Art Teacher Awards

BN Art grants wnnrsThe Morro Bay Art Association’s Students Matter in Art or SMART grants program has awarded grants to three SLO County art teachers and is slated to show the artworks of their students from April 15-May 18 at the Association’s Art Center 835 Main St.
Open to all SLO County art teachers, this year’s SMART Grant winners are Tess Harback of Atascadero High School, Amber Wickersham of Templeton High School, and Katrina Osborne of Morro Bay High School.
An awards reception is set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 1. Everyone is invited to celebrate the efforts of these teachers and students.
Harback and the AHS art department serve some 360 students and she will use the grant to further explore the concepts of Science, Engineering, Art and Mathematics or STEAM method of education.
Wickersham of THS wants to show off the talent and sense of accomplishment of her students with new display materials — mats, frames, etc. She has 200 students.
Osborne of MBHS is a repeat winner and has some 170 students a semester. She wants to upgrade the materials for advanced drawing and ceramic classes, and is also inviting local artists to visit her classroom to work with students and/or give presentations (Email to: [email protected] if interested).
