Car Show Cruises Through Downtown

Car Show-03The 19th Annual Cruisin’ Morro Bay Car Show held May 3-5 in Downtown Morro Bay drew thousands of visitors and more than 500 custom and classic cars, and this year paying special homage to one of the original founders of the show, the late Ron McIntosh. Friday’s cruise night through downtown was well attended and a real hoot, as hot rodders revved their engines, Car Show-01Bdriving more than a few dogs and at least one bicycle cop a bit batty, to the delight of the crowds. Saturday’s Show n‘ Shine took up Morro Bay Boulevard from Piney Way to Market Avenue and a block north and south on the side streets. Among the truly unique vehicles were a VW Fastback custom built to hold a huge V-8 in the bed, and a 1957 VW Beetle, that also boasted a big V-8 in the front hatch (normally the trunk). Others included a 1972 Pantera, and a 1981 DeLorean. Preparations are already underway for the 2016 show, see: www.morrobaycarshow.org.
