For the 3rd time in the last 6 months the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) will see its daily air service seat capacity grow. Starting Feb. 11 American Airlines operates four daily roundtrips to PHX. This fourth flight is scheduled to arrive at SBP from PHX at 6:38 p.m. and depart SBP for PHX at 7:10 p.m. Although in recent years SBP has seen some seasonality with a fourth SBP-PHX frequency, this time around it has preliminarily been planned to remain through the summer. “Our chances to retain this flight permanently will rise with a strong showing of use, to and from SBP,” said County Airports Director Kevin Bumen. With three and four daily flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles, respectively, rounding out the lineup, SBP passengers will have 11, non-stop, jet flights to choose from daily. “With this additional flight, our community will see daily seat capacity expand to approximately 600 seats, an increase of about 19.28% over the average count available in February 2015. This new addition will also expand American Airline’s first class service offering up to as many as 18 daily seats” said Bumen. Further flight schedule details can be found by visiting: www.AA.com.

The SLO County bus system, RTA, has formally launched Transit Tracker, a new GPS based, mobile application that will enable transit riders to easily know when buses are due to arrive. The online system and the mobile App are both free to use. Travelers can avoid missing their bus by using Transit Tracker. Transit Tracker is accessible on all text-enabled devices (cell phones and tablets) and is optimized for any internet-connected device, such as smart phones, desktop computers and laptops. It supports routes on RTA system as well as the Paso Express and the South County Transit (SCT) buses. “Our system currently carries over 1 million riders a year” said Geoff Straw, Executive Director of RTA. “Reliable information about when a bus is due to arrive gives our riders more confidence in our system.” To use the system, riders will simply text their bus stop number to our Transit Tracker phone number 541-4782 and within seconds, receive a text back telling them how many minutes away their bus is from that stop. Additional functionality for the system is found on the RTA website Transit Tracker page and from an App available for your smart phone or tablet. For more information about how to use Transit Tracker visit: slorta.org.
